Upholding democracy

Members of Pridnestrovie's self-defense forces march for democracy and freedom in the nation's annual independence day parade, on September 2. The young nation defends its right to freedom and independence, and its boys in uniform are proud of their role in upholding democracy for the hundreds of thousands of inhabitants.

Since the failed Moldovan invasion in 1992, peace has held thanks to a cease-fire agreement which has been overseen by a corps of peacekeepers made up of representatives from three different nations. The peacekeepers ensure that the border between Pridnestrovie and Moldova is respected and that further Moldovan agressions are kept at bay, thus ensuring the protection of civilian lives in Pridnestrovie.

As a peaceloving nation, Pridnestrovie respects the right of Moldova to insist and merely maintains a self-defense force to safeguard its borders and the right of its people to freely choose their own destiny through a democratic vote on Pridnestrovie's future.
