Higher learning, College-level and beyond

Standing out in the bleak background of its South East European neighbors, Pridnestrovie shines as an example of a strong focus on education and higher learning. The country's state university is large and free, and in addition ten other institutes for higher learning also offer advanced education — sometimes in partnership with private companies, but always free.

In many post-Soviet republics it was all about "biziness" ... and education was forgotton as the upstart politicians were busy lining their pockets with the proceeds from shadowy privatizations. Not so in Pridnestrovie. Although we, too, opened our doors to a market based economy, we did it in a responsible way and never at the expense of education. For our country, education and higher learning was always more important. Because in the long term, an investment in the education of a country's citizens is what really pays off.
T.G. Shevchenko University
Today, Pridnestrovie contains a highly educated workforce. Degree holders in all specialties make up the backbone of an informed, specialized middle class. Our country's leading university has become a center of cultural and intellectual development of the region; it represents Pridnestrovie in the leading international higher institution and academy associations in the Commonwealth of Independent States and foreign countries in general.
