Tiligul Tiraspol

CS Tiligul-Tiras Tiraspol is one of Pridnestrovie's top soccer teams and their badge, not merely an iconic list of the town’s former industries, has a magical story to tell. The main picture shows, to the left, a wild young woman, beset by three ravens, running in a blind passion she-knows-not-where. To the right, a man sits brooding guiltily in a wicker chair, possibly awaiting the woman’s return. The east European folk tale alluded to tells the story of a poor woodcutter. When his wife presented him with a new-born baby girl, the woodcutter feigned delight, only to wander off into the forest with his daughter that very night and leave her there, claiming she had been kidnapped by bandits. The infant was found by three ravens who reared her as their own. However, the girl, as soon as she came of age, was not thankful to the birds. The ravens grew angry at this and chased the girl all over the country so that she had no peace, which is also true of every neighborhood she passed into. Some say you can hear her heart-rending cries when the wind is still in the trees, while others say that it’s probably a bird you can hear, going on the law of averages. It’s not a nice story, and it may not be true, but the close study of this crest will definitely give opposition players something to think about whenever there’s a lull in play.
