In the face of new moves to curtail freedom, the people of Pridnestrovie bravely turned out in massive numbers, filling the streets of Tiraspol defending their right to live in freedom in their own country.

Today, the unwavering strength of the Freedom Movement can be seen in the democratically-elected government of Pridnestrovie. Since the small country declared independence in 1990, the people of Pridnestrovie stand firm in their steadfast commitment to promoting freedom, democracy and economic development for the past sixteen years.

An activist takes to streets to defend her country's freedom. In Pridnestrovie today, young people are building a vibrant European democracy, pushing for change and consolidating the achievements of the independent nation. Knowing what freedom is like, they want to make their country a determined partner in the course of freedom elsewhere, too: A good neighbor, collaborating with the rest of Europe and integrating itself responsibly in the international community.

Youth in Tiraspol, capital of independent Pridnestrovie, celebrate the nation's freedom by taking part in a march through the streets of the city. Many have grown up knowing nothing but freedom. The days of tyranny under a foreign power are long gone, with Pridnestrovie having lived under self-rule ever since its formal declaration of independence in 1990.

The streets fill with citizens taking part in a protest action against a 2006 Moldova-Ukraine border blockade aimed at forcing a shutdown of the young nation's export economy. By their courage the people of small country stand up to much bigger neighbors. They have shown their wish to live in freedom and they are determined to shape their own destiny.

The new generation in Pridnestrovie pushes for political reform and a broader recognition of the country's independence. They stand together in the face of an outrageous assault on the nation's liberty, freeing the country from the demands of Chisinau whose only purpose is to curb the human self determination of the Pridnestrovian people.

Free from under the boot of tyranny, the new leaders represent the will of the people instead of an enemy rule imposed on Pridnestrovie from its larger neighbors, a policy designed to sow violence and destruction and designed to stop the emergence of a free and independent republic.

A free and peaceful Pridnestrovie takes to the streets to defending their own democracy and independence. Their goal is freedom, and freedom is achieved when Moldova no longer plots new attcks against its small neighbor.

Walking to the border with Ukraine, these Pridnestrovian pensioners protest against the neighboring country's change in economic border policy which makes the cost of basic food necessities increase. The elderly are the hardest hit by a lack of cooperation between countries and push for more talks, openness and humanitarian understanding.

A multiethnic group of young human rights activists organize a demonstration march in Tiraspol, Pridnestrovie. Distinctly unviolent, the march even had a festive air and speakers from a total of five different NGOs recognized the young country's recent advances in improving its human rights record; especially in the area of protection of ethnic minorities.

At the OSCE office in Tiraspol, no one would open the door to receive a letter from the democratic opposition of Pridnestrovie.

The closed door of the OSCE office in Tiraspol, Pridnestrovie, is seen by many in the young country as a symbolism of the international organization's unwillingness to engage in dialogue with the people of Pridnestrovie. When dialogue exists, the critics say, it is based on the premise of a Moldovan territorial claim which doesn't square with reality. Pridnestrovie's negotiators have put other proposals forward but the OSCE has shown itself incapable of thinking outside the box.

Come hail, rain, show, these brave defenders of their nations freedom do not stop from telling the world that they feel unfairly treated. They feel that there is a double standard at play and that their nation has not yet been given a fair hearing in international fora.
