Economy: Market based growth
Pridnestrovie's government encourages privatization and economic growth. Following independence in 1990, the country liberalized its economy and raised living standards. Today, it has a market based economy and sustained growth.

The country has its own Central Bank and its own freely convertible currency, the PMR Ruble. Inflation is under control and a managed round of privatizations with a human face is bringing the right kind of growth to the country. Local companies and foreign investment benefit from a low flat tax of just 15%, there is a vibrant media sector of privately owned radio- and TV stations, and strong small business growth. [ More ]
Strong controls keep out dirty money
Pridnestrovie has eight banks, three of them foreign, all operating under the strict Wolfsberg Anti Money Laundering principles. 
That helps deter abuses in the financial system, as does the fact that Pridnestrovie has joined the WCO (World Customs Organization) and streamlined the electronic control of customs documents.
As the EU reports, Pridnestrovie "is relatively open economically to the outside world". The state works to keep it that way, with a strong transport infrastructure and local companies with ISO- and Lloyds of London certifications. In gas infrastructure, Pridnestrovie is the region's leader: The country doubled the extent of its lines since independence in 1990. All of which helps explain why the young country has a higher growth and a better standard of living than its nearest neighbor in the region.
