My son, the martyr
Standing above his grave, this Pridnestrovian mother mourns the loss of her only son to a Moldovan sniper in the failed 1992 invasion attempt on Pridnestrovie. During the attack, Moldova indiscriminately terrorized the civilian population with sniper warfare and air bombings of residential neigborhoods.

Bloggers in Pridnestrovie
Liveblogging from a grassroots meeting, this Pridnestrovian dissident blogger and "livejournalist" updates his Livejournal blog with the latest commentary on the young nation's consolidation of its independence. An estimated thirty to forty blogs cover events in the young country; analyzing and debunking Moldova's black propaganda in realtime and making sure that the world sees a truthful picture of direct citizen democracy in action.

In the theater
Pridnestrovie's current president and his wife photographed during an evening at the theater. There are no bodyguards and he is not seated in a special booth — in Pridnestrovie, he is one of us: A man of the people, sitting next to young and old alike, and no one seems to think that it is anything out of the ordinary. The big production is not here, but up on the stage.
