Soccer-mad employees and owners of Sheriff, the second largest company in Pridnestrovie, decided to build a world class soccer stadium on the outskirts of Tiraspol. What's there to criticize? A company invests its profits back into the country, and we all get to benefit. Nothing wrong with that.

They are firm in their quest for freedom, solemn to the losses of the past, and determined not to let more blood spill on this side of the Dniester ever again.

Self-defense forces carry the flag

Nativeborn young men from local Pridnestrovie towns and villages have joined together in the nation's self-defense forces, ready to protect the land where they were born. Every year on independence day, they carry their country's flag and show the world that they are prepared to defend their community from outside agression.

Rock concerts like this one, reaffirming and celebrating the independence of our republic, is an annual event in Pridnestrovie. The most popular bands in the country are inspired by "U2" and "The All-American Rejects". But U2 hasn't made it to Pridnestrovie (yet), so meanwhile we must make do with our local substitutes.

This "minimarket", a neighborhood grocery store, is located in Bender, the second largest city of Pridnestrovie. Like hundreds of similar stores all over the country this privately owned business sells mostly European and American products ... including, of course, Coca Cola.
Since the country became independent in 1990, Coca Cola - the symbol of freedom - has been the bestselling beverage in Pridnestrovie.

A supermarket in Pridnestrovie. This store belongs to the "Sheriff"-chain of supermarkets, a privately owned local company which is the second largest chain in the country. A huge variety of imported and locally made food and beverages are easily available in supermarkets like this one throughout the nation. Supermarkets, like other businesses, are private market-based companies which operate in a climate of free and healthy competition where no corporation owns a monopoly on any area of the business.
