Independent ... and proud of it

Fiercely proud of his country's independence, this volunteer veteran fought off Moldovan invaders when they tried to make Pridnestrovie part of their country in the 1992, two years after our declaration of independence.

Historically not a part of Moldova, citizens of Pridnestrovie have resisted aims by that country to force a union between the two nations on either side of the Dniester river.
