The roots of freedom have grabbed hold of Pridnestrovie. In this young democracy, the opposition is in control of Parliament. The European Union has recognized Pridnestrovie's reform of its political system. And the most recent elections were certified as free and fair by hundreds of international observers and journalists.

The latest election, in December 2005, was won by the opposition party 'Renewal' [0]; defeating the ruling party 'Respublica'.
