That's the question facing Pridnestrovie as the young democracy strives to develop more dynamic and more versatile relations with international partners in the fields of economy, culture, science and tourism. For 2006-2007, the nation's Ministry of Foreign Affairs [0] has made good neighbor partnerships and international integration a top priority. [0]

" - Europe and Pridnestrovie share the same views on many of the most important international issues," says Valeri Litskai, Minister of Foreign Affairs. He expressed hope that further development and signing of bilateral agreements [0] will open up new venues for cooperation.
“ - I have no doubt that we shall continue fostering and developing our cooperation in international organizations, and join our efforts towards making relations between Pridnestrovie and other states closer and more dynamic.”

Although diplomatic contacts are still in their infancy, Pridnestrovie does not lack international relations. On the political, cultural and especially commercial level, Pridnestrovie maintains contacts with 99 different countries [0] in the world. Some of them have opened representations in Tiraspol, the capital of Pridnestrovie. In 2004 the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of the Russian Federation inaugurated its permanent mission. OSCE, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, also maintains an office and a permanent delegation in Tiraspol. [ More ] [0]

Pridnestrovie's open, market based economy has grown 200% in recent years. [0] The U.S. and Europe, in particular Germany, are among the country's largest trading partners. With the undertaking of a privatization program, [0] foreign investment have poured in from the USA, [0] Western Europe and the CIS. Pridnestrovie has eight large banks, [0] three of them foreign. The country's largest company, [0] a steel plant in Rybnitsa, has the United States as its first customer.

In the field of democracy and nation building, [0] Pridnestrovie also benefits from close international ties. The country's last democratic elections were overseen by 153 international election observers and 112 accredited journalists. British observers called the election "free and fair". [0] An MP-led delegation from Poland called it the region's "most open and transparent". [0]
