Pridnestrovie's young diplomatic corps

Government | Statehood
With an average age of just 28 years, the diplomats at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie make up one of the youngest and energetic parts of the country's civil service. It's job? To put Pridnestrovie on the map.

Located in a large and comfortable building on an upscale street in Tiraspol, the MFA is a young and dynamic ministry: The average age of administrative personnel is 34 and among diplomats and other officials, the average age is just 28 years old. They were teenagers when the republic was founded and have devoted their entire professional lives to the growth of the country. They are native sons. Most of these young diplomatic officers graduated from higher educational institutions of Pridnestrovie.

This young diplomatic service consists of a high-energy, creative team which looks for constructive solutions in dealing with the problems facing our nation. It is led by Valeri Litskai, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR, who speaks English and Spanish perfectly and is one of initiators of the “Hague initiative on settlement of conflicts in CIS”.

Pridnestrovie's diplomats focus on getting things done and to carry out a pro-active foreign policy. Like Taiwan and other states with limited international recognition, we sometimes have to work twice as hard to get the job done -- and we sometimes have to put a creative spin on our problem solving strategies. Pridnestrovian diplomacy uses all peaceful means of the international field: consultations, meetings, bilateral and multilateral conferences, summits with foreign heads of states and ministers of foreign affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is eager to break the information blockade imposed on Pridnestrovie. It makes every effort to form a positive image of the state in the eyes of the European and world community. In doing so, our job is to inform the world community about the reality on the ground, here in the republic. And in doing so, to hopefully disprove some of the slander and unfounded allegations which is used by other state actors to smear Pridnestrovie in order to further their own narrow interests.
