Starting with its red-and-green flag, Pridnestrovie has all the symbols of statehood: A separate currency, its own stamps, autodecals, license plates, and telephone calling cards.

FlagThe official flag of Pridnestrovie was adopted at the time of declaration of independence of the republic in the year 1990. It consists of three horizontal bands, red-green-red and is flown throughout the nation as a sign of statehood. No other flag is flown anywhere in the country.

A local currency
MoneySoon after independence in 1990, Pridnestrovie introduced its own currency: The PMR Ruble. The nation's Central Bank issues both coins (known as Kopeks) and its own full Ruble banknotes. An important part of our import/export trade, Pridnestrovie's local currency is fully convertible at a daily floating exchange rate.
